Searching for Player

To search for a player, type their real name in the search bar of the table. After their entry shows up, copy their playerID and take note of what year they debuted and what year they retired. Use these years to pick what era you are searching in, as searching for a player in the wrong era will yield nothing. Once you search for the player, you can click on their points in a plot and that specific year for that player will expand in all three plots. Hovering over the point will show some player statistics, and clicking on the dot again will store it between plots. You can have at most 750 players stored (a total of 250 to the right of each plot). To reset, click the reset button.

Filtering Players by Range

To filter by range, first type in the range you want to search for players and then use the slider to select the lower bound in hundreds. For example, if you wanted to search for players with at bats between 300 and 376, you would type 76 in the box and set the slider to 3. You can click on each player once to expand that year for that player in all 3 plots. Hovering over the point will show some of their statistics, and clicking again will store it between plots (750 max, 250 to the right of each plot). To reset, click the reset button.

For reference, there are 8 different eras in baseball history: the Dead Ball Era (1901-1919), the Live Ball Era (1920-1941), the Integration Era (1942-1960), the Expansion Era (1961-1976),
the Free Agency Era (1977-1993) and the Long Ball/Steroid Era (1994-2005), and the Post Steroid Era (2006-today). When searching for a player, take note of when their debut date and final
game date were, which can be found on the home page search table.
